PHOTOGRAPHIC NATURE WALKS led by Val Gaffner


Photographer Val Gaffner will lead two Nature Photography Walks around the park. Val will be pointing out items in nature that catch her eye, along with unique angles and lighting that help an image stand out. The walks will be followed by an informal review/discussion.  Those wanting to join Val are reminded to bring your camera or phone w/camera!

FISHING TIPS: HOW TO APPROACH LOCAL WATERS

Shane Campell, Assistant Bass Fishing Coach at Greenville University, will be presenting general tips and guidelines for successful fishing with a nod to fishing in local waters including Governor Bond, Patriots Park and Coffeen Lakes.

Professional Storyteller Linda Dust will be weaving a little storytelling magic about Mother Earth and Earth Day with a Native American flair.

Owl Creek Gazette columnist Keith Ford will be sharing how-tos for making dehydrating food tasty and convenient.  Keith will also be available at his vendor table/ activity station throughout the day to share other self-reliant, sustainable and earth friendly projects.

Andy Brown, co-owner and director of Camp Manitowa in Southern Illinois, will be sharing the Camp Manitowa experience with attendees -- from yurts, to summer camping sessions, to year round retreats, along with his love and respect for nature!

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN BUTTERFLY GARDEN by Cathie Kimme


 Owl Creek Gazette columnist and our official Butterfly Lady, Cathie Kimme, will be walking attendees through the steps of creating a beautiful Butterfly Garden. Cathie will also be available throughout the day at her vendor booth /activity station with milkweed plants, bird houses, patio décor and more!

HOW TO RAISE YOUR OWN QUEEN BEES by Tim Lindley



Owl Creek Gazette columnist and owner of Big T's Honeybee Farm, Tim Lindley, will be sharing the how-tos of raising your own queen bees with an eye toward being sustainable.  Tim will also have an observation hive on site.
